Coronavirus: Update – “Antivirus” Program by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic

On March 31, 2020 the Government approved the adjustment of the Antivirus program. There will now be only two regimes instead of five:

Regime A – Forced reduction of business operation and ordered quarantine

  • An employee is ordered into a quarantine (an employee receives a compensatory salary in the amount of 60 % of the average earnings; employers pay first 14 calendar days)
  • Employers are not able to assign work to employees due to emergency measures, under which employers were obliged to close or reduce their business operations (employees receive a compensatory salary in the amount of 100 % of the average earnings)

Contribution that can be provided to an employer: 80 % of the compensatory salary (amount paid by the employer, incl. statutory contributions), max monthly compensation in the amount of CZK 39,000 for each.

Regime B – Related economic difficulties

An employer is not able to assign work to employees as:

  • a significant or key part of the staff is missing (e.g. due to a quarantine, illness, care of a child) (employees receive a compensatory salary in the amount of 100 % of the average earnings)
  • the employer is forced to reduce the business operation as inputs (e.g. raw material, semi-finished products, services) are missing (employees receive a compensatory salary in the amount of 80 % of the average earnings) or demand for services provided by or products produced by the employer has been significantly reduced (employees receive a compensatory salary in the amount of min. 60 % of the average earnings)

Contribution that can be provided to an employer: 60 % of the compensatory salary (amount paid by the employer, incl. statutory contributions), max monthly compensation in the amount of CZK 29,000 for each.

Currently, the support has been introduced for the period from March 12 – April 30, 2020 with the possibility that the Government might extend the program. Employers fulfilling the respective conditions will be (partially) compensated by the state via the Labour Office of the Czech Republic. Receipt of applications is expected to commence on April 6, 2020.

More detailed information concerning the program, its terms and conditions and particular steps of the application procedure, incl. an overview of the requested documents is available here: www.mpsv.cz (in Czech language only). We will keep you posted on any development in this important sector.
