BREAKING NEWS: Bratislava to Host the ELA (European Labour Authority)

Giese & Partner is pleased to share that Bratislava was recently selected to host the European Labour Authority (ELA). The ELA will support labour mobility and give EU Member States the tools they need to cooperate more effectively and fight abuse. It shall in particular improve access to information for employees and employers on their rights and obligations in cases of cross-border mobility, free movement of services and social security coordination. Also, it shall support cooperation between member states in tackling undeclared work and assist in resolving cross-border disputes.

The ELA is expected to start functioning already in October. It is to reach its full operational capacity in 2024, with a staff of 140 and an annual budget of around 50 million euros.

This gesture is a testament to Bratislava’s dedicated commitment in the field of labour law and fair working conditions.

Our internationally and locally trained attorneys in Prague and Bratislava look forward to strengthening the efforts of the ELA to support cross-border labour mobility. Find more information about our practice HERE.
